We found a little slice of Italy in Central Saanich. The small hazelnut farm was transformed into a spectacular venue for a beautiful reception. The vision was a simple elegant and intimate table for 75. We kept the floral decor to a minimum using potted herbs, we had been cultivating since early June so they would be full and lush. We potted them in rustic clay containers, they were interspersed with ivory pillar candles, and small votives. The entire tent was truly glowing and bathed in candle light.

Bouquets and Bows

The bride wanted simple with a bit of rustic. For the bridesmaids we mixed white and ivory blooms with a few accents of ladies mantle(from the brides childhood garden) and wrapped them in a simple white satin ribbon. The bride’s bouquet was primarily whites and ivorys with “hints” of lavender and pink. The lavender came from the same garden and the pink was incorporated using a few garden roses from her father’s rose bushes. The biggest component was the addition of gardenia blooms, the bride’s favorite flower. The entire studio smelled like a hawaian beach for 3 days!

We were thrilled to be able to pick flowers from the bride’s childhood garden, when we came across the large lavender bushes overflowing with exquisite dusty lilac coloured blooms we knew we had to incorporate it everywhere. The volumenous white clouds of hydrangeas in the large arrangements were courtesy of a spectacular bush hiding in the rose garden

Behind the Scenes

It’s not all fun and games when playing with flowers! We were almost finished setting up the church and Vanessa decided to take a step back to admire the beautiful work, and as usual forgot about the step! Needless to say Jenny sprung into action and Leslie held down the fort while Vanessa waited for 3 and a 1/2 hours to get stiched up!

Jan and Mal met forty years ago in Louisburg, Nova Scotia. A year and a half ago they met again at a mutual friends birthday party in Victoria BC. The rest is history they say and we were thrilled to be asked to create some arrangements for thier wedding that took place in the most beautiful and intimate penthouse suite of the Swan’s Hotel in downtown Victoria BC.We knew it was going to be magical when we picked the flowers up from the wholesaler and Jenny got goosebumps at the sight of the towering white calla’s and the deep chocolate calla’s. Here is a small sampling, and look for more picture on our website. Once again THANK YOU Jan, Mal and your beautiful families for allowing Verbena to accent your spectacular day!
